Buy for others

The tension between the two was fantastic. This book was sent to me by Knopf books for review at my request, yo! See, the water molecules are attracted to each other so much that they hold on for as long as they can. I guess what I’m trying to say is that all these things are explored in the novel, but in a more quiet, subtle way. The chance to show Dave Robbie that she’s not entirely unspectacular.


It seemed not quite forced, but almost.

It was affectionate eye-rolling though – like when I see my daughter throw a tantrum because she can’t wear her ruby slippers to school.

View all 10 comments. I sometimes think that YA authors believe that girls can only hate each other or pretend to like each other, which, in my experience, is a load of crap. You don’t notice them so much because they pretend they do. Her lyrics are simple, but so incredibly full of truth and raw emotion; I could feel the power behind them.


This is a story that would be bleak in the hands of another author, but with Crowley it is touching, hopeful, and an absorbing exploration of the different love that characterizes families, friends, and romances. Rose, on the other hand, took me a little to warm up to. She was the one who told me to sing “Smashed-Up World” and sing it loud. Rose and Charlie are very ccath from each other.

I really loved Dave though, He’s got such a good heart and I really enjoyed some of his moments. Learn how your comment data is processed. Charlie, who lives in the city, and whom Rose has ignored for years.

This is a funny, beautifully written novel w will leave you desperate for anything else this fantastic author has written. A Little Wanting Song.

The Book Rat: A Little Wanting Song by Cath Crowley

The whole story was bittersweet and moving and captured that sense of wanting that the book was essentially all about. I love the Aussie setting and the appreciate her no frills characters. Charlie was one of the most real characters I have had the pleasure of reading in some time.

Everything in the book was heartbreakingly gorgeous. Even when it’s completely predictable — and it can be — it still works.

Yet, its ending is perfect and makes you feel completely satisfied. They make mine ache trying to see where they end. Add in an Australian bush and couple of sweet teen romances, one – new and shy and another – stormy, and you’ve got yourself a solid Aussie YA novel.
