Making sure the clutch is used properly is almost as important as these other tips for keeping this transmission in gear. This is a clutch-to-clutch shifting transmission, meaning there are no bands in the shifting process. As one clutch comes off, it needs to be carefully timed with the on coming clutch. Too fast of a release with the off-coming clutch and the shift will transition will consist of a slight engine flare making it feel like a slip.
If the on coming clutch applies too quickly, the overlap of the two clutches causes a very brief tie up or bind up, which feels like an abrupt or harsh shift. The mechanical make up of this transmission consists of three planetary gear sets: Several different gear ratios are available with this transmission as well as various amounts of clutch plates within a clutch pack assembly.
This gives the transmission the capability to be fitted behind engines as small as a 4 cylinder to as strong as a 12 cylinders. It began with the Chrysler and Dodge Magnum. First one to mention is the TCM gets filled with transmission fluid due to a leak into the solenoid harness connector Figure 3.
By way of capillary action, fluid is drawn up through the wiring filling the TCM Figures 4 and 5. I know that there are transmissions with computers being inside them submersed in transmission fluid, but these external TCMs are not one of them and do not fare well being filled with fluid.
Crazy as it sounds, it happens.
ATSG Mercedes / NAG 1
The remedy is a new sleeve between the internal conductor plate and external harness connector called the Adapter Plug; part number A 02 53 Figure 6. Although the adapter plug is supposed to prevent transmission fluid from leaking fluid into the harness connector, it could fail. A real sure way to prevent fluid from ever wicking up the wires again is to expose a piece of each of the wires and drop some solder on the wire.
It will take some time to stagger the exposure of each wire, solder, and then properly wrap and cover your work. But it will definitely ensure that the new TCM you put in will not get loaded with fluid again. Some risk cleaning out the contaminated TCM to reuse it. In some cases, it has actually worked out for them.
But the majority of times it usually comes back with various codes. I am almost tempted to share with you one of the craziest methods I have ever heard being used by some individuals to clean these TCMs. But have decided against it. Too many wives might find oily residue on their dishes after removing them from their dishwasher. The internal conductor plate just previously mentioned is another commonly known issue with this transmission.
It is mounted on the valve body, which the solenoids bolt down onto Figure 7.
ATSG Transmission Technical Service Information | Free Download
Circuitry within the conductor plate runs from each solenoid to the plug connection. Integral to this conductor plate is the starter interlock contact, transmission oil temperature sensor, the N2 and N3 speed sensors.
The part number to replace it is, A 11 This conductor plate brings up a few very interesting points to mention, which is really the primary focus of this article. Because this plate can fail in such a way where it will produces speed sensor or solenoid codes, there has been at times confusion with diagnosing the N2 and N3 speed sensors. The N3 speed sensor solid black is the most forward speed sensor on the conductor plate. This sensor reads the rotation of the K1 clutch drum inside the transmission Figure 9.
This drum has the front planetary sun gear attached to it and it lugs into the B1 clutch on the pump. What this means is that whenever the B1 clutch is applied it holds this drum stationary. This occurs in Park, Reverse Standard Mode, 1st and 5th gear. In these ranges the N3 rpm reading will be 0.
The N2 is the next sensor back on the conductor plate silver top and reads the rotation of the front planetary carrier assembly.
This gets driven by the front ring gear attached to astg K2 clutch drum and input shaft. This means that atag the input shaft is in rotation so is the front planetary carrier assembly. The N2 will provide and rpm reading in park and neutral, and all forward and reverse gear movement but will read 0 rpms when in gear with the brakes ztsg. As a side note, 272.6 N2 rpm reading in 1st and 5th gear will not be actual input shaft rpm.
This is due to the 722.66 being driven by the input shaft through the internal ring gear, which will slightly reduce the speed of the carrier.
But when the K1 clutch applies, it locks the sun gear to the carrier forcing the entire front planetary assembly to rotate at actual input shaft speed. This occurs in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears and when it does, both the N2 and N3 rpm sensor readings are exactly the same if the transmission is functioning correctly.
Since the N3 is inoperative in reverse standard mode, 1st and 5th gears, it appears that the N3 sensor is redundant and provides no additional information.
However, the TCM needs to know input shaft speed. The chart in Figure 10 confirms the normal operation of the speed sensors, the N3 sensor being at 0 in reverse S1st and 5th gears qtsg the N2 is providing an rpm reading. Then both are the same in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. This statement Chrysler provides in accompaniment with this chart reveals some computer math strategy.
The computer is programmed to divide the 0. Figure 11 is a first gear screen capture at 10mph of a Jeep Grand Cherokee which provides the following data:. The N2 rpm of is divided by the 0. The next interesting aspect to this equation is the Output Speed.
This transmission does not have an output speed sensor.
ATSG 722.6 Transmission Technical Service Information
A pinion factor takes into account the transmission gear ratio, tire size and differential ratio for the TCM to properly calculate an output speed signal. This value is then used to monitor gear ratio attsg of the transmission by the computer. What this means to you and me is this. For DodgeChrysler and Jeep vehicles, gear ratio errors can be the result of a slipping transmission, an incorrect ratio planetary, an incorrect ratio differential, the wrong TCM is being used or, the wrong pinion factor was programmed into the TCM.
They too needed to be properly calibrated to accommodate the various vehicles they would be used in. Another misunderstood scan tool parameter that occurs is with the Transmission Fluid Temperature located in the electrical conductor plate as shown in Figure Its purpose is to measure the fluid temp and pass that information to the TCM as an input signal. This occurs in Reverse or a forward gear positions only.
7222.6 selector lever can then be safely placed into Reverse or Drive to properly conduct the test. With some Mercedes-Benz vehicles, there have been reports of transmission fluid being accidently poured into the engine oil fill hole after repairs. Unaware, the vehicle is started with a dry transmission sump. This not only damages the conductor plate, it also causes a no start condition.

Here is a strong diagnostic article for you. The ISS Factor Making sure the clutch is used properly is almost as important as these other tips for keeping this transmission in gear.
Interestingly enough, the advertised gear ratios for this vehicle are as follows:

Ambassador of Poland to Chile and Bolivia — and Argentina — Co-editor of Medical Review – Auschwitz. Only minor and incidental contributions have chorona published hitherto in the Polish literature on the subject of pseudo-medical experiments conducted in diverse Nazi camps.
There has been considerable confusion over the various types of illicit activities practised by SS doctors and orderlies, who for example did their medical training by carrying out surgery on prisoners. Such actions have sometimes been mistaken for medical experiments.
Various attitudes have been taken to such activities so far in Polish publications, and in general there has been little or no consistency in the way they have been treated. The Nazis deliberately destroyed the records of these activities, hence the research which is being done today is based on the surviving remnants of the documentary evidence, the statements made by the bwri of these experiments, the testimonials given by victims and their medical examinations.
The chief aim of this article is to consider the medical, ethical, moral and legal aspects which come to light in the context of publications on pseudo-medical experiments, and to differentiate between the criteria defining pseudo-medical experiments from those which define therapeutic experiments.
One of the types of biological experiments carried out on humans are those which are done to increase the number of individuals who are to learn the already known laws or methods. Experimental methods were first introduced in research on inanimate nature, in disciplines such as mechanics, physics, and chemistry, but not until the 17th century in the beeri sciences.
Pseudo-Medical Experiments in Hitler’s Concentration Camps | Medical Review Auschwitz
However, biological experiments on human subjects were widespread already by the turn of the 19th and 20th century. Experiments were conducted in which humans were infected with syphilis Wallace, Walter, Lindwurm et al.
Children were chorobq earthworm embryos in their food Epstein, Grassi, and Calandruciand they were also infected with scarlet fever. Nonetheless the experiments continued, involving whooping cough, beriberi, bubonic plague, leprosy, pellagra, malaria, and polio. They were carried out mostly on prisoners, convicts sentenced to death, the incurably ill, children, the mentally ill, and the natives of colonial countries.
Despite protests by many people and appeals to morality, the legal issues associated with the phenomenon were never addressed. The basic aim of the biological experiments conducted here was to find the fastest, cheapest and most efficient method of sterilisation, in order to wipe out whole nations.
The infamous sterilisation experiments conducted by Clauberg were done on specially selected women between the ages of 20 and 40 who had given birth and had not stopped menstruating in the camp Fejkiel, Victims of the experiment fell ill with inflammation of various parts of the reproductive organs. The exact bdri is not known, but has been estimated in the hundreds. Josef Mengele, nicknamed The Angel of Death.
Many women died after these irradiations. Those who survived were subjected after three months to two check-up operations, in which their ovaries were successively removed and examined.
The aftereffects of these experiments were not only infertility and castration, but also complications such as burns and abscesses, especially in the bei wall and reproductive organs. There were also attempts to artificially inseminate women, which were conducted in association with sterilisation experiments.
For instance, limb amputations were done on patients suffering from ulcers. Other operations done on no grounds were laparotomies, hernia operations, the extraction of nerves, muscles, and bones. Labour was induced in pregnant women for no reason.
The changes occurring in various organs were observed for diverse diseases, including starvation sickness Kowalczykowa, Experiments were conducted involving infectious diseases such as typhus, tuberculosis, malaria, and phlegmon Fejkiel, Healthy individuals were artificially infected with injections of the blood of persons suffering from typhus.
There were also determinations of the quarantine time needed following typhus. Also certain unspecified anti-typhus vaccines were tested. Blood group determinations were carried out and blood components were determined on the basis of saliva tests. Documents relating to the pharmacological experiments show that experiments involving eleudron and sulphapyridine which had been started in Dachau continued in Auschwitz.
There were also large-scale experiments with the use of substances called Be, Be,rutenol and periston. Many of the individuals subjected to these mass experiments died, and many developed painful diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, blackouts, and circulatory disorders. Another notorious type of experiment involved the application of narcotics, the purpose of which was probably to make subjects disclose information. An injection containing the drug mescaline perhaps?
Vast numbers of victims, mercilessness, cruelty and criminality motivated by the lowest impulses — such were the lengths to which the experimenters went. Biological experiments were carried out on human guinea pigs, chiefly Polish women, but also women of other nationalities, including mentally ill women Klimek, Experimental operations were done only on healthy, well-built young women who were political prisoners. Most of them were subjected to several operations, some even as many as six times.
The following types of biological experiments were conducted:. Operations done to examine the effects of surgical infections by pus-forming microorganisms, usually Staphylococcus aureus, malignant oedema, gas gangrene, or tetanus germs injected into the calf muscles or inserted into an open wound.
The experiments were done to test the therapeutic properties of sulphonamide drugs and other medications, which were put into the infected wound. The blood vessels at both ends of the wound were constricted to prevent blood flow, which was to simulate the prevalent conditions in battlefield wounds. This was also why the infection was aggravated by having broken glass, sawdust, and pieces of fabric rubbed into the wound.
Aseptic bone, muscle and neural operations. Their aim was to observe cell regeneration. Three types of bone operation were practised: Neural operations involved the extraction of some of the nerves in the lower leg. At first these operations were performed in operating theatres ebri aseptic conditions.
Later, when the women started to resist, operations were chorobz forcibly. Victims were operated in their clothes and did not even have their legs washed. It has been estimated that out of the large number of Polish women who were victims of these experiments 3. Many other completely unwarranted operations were carried out on human guinea begi apart from these biological experiments, for instance resections of the stomach or removal of the thyroid gland.
We know of cases of epileptics having the adrenal glands removed, and these glands being subsequently transplanted into bronchial asthmatics. Women were sterilised by having the middle part or the whole of their ovaries chooba. These operations were done on mentally ill German women and young Roma women, some of them -year-old girls.
The extreme attitude adopted by German chorobw on biological experiments was an outcome of the Nazi principle that doctors chorobq an absolute right to conduct experiments on prisoners whenever such experiments were justified by scientific or national interests. Under low pressure conditions disturbed behaviours were observed.
Prisoners would tear out their hair, scratch their faces with their nails, beat their heads against the wall, or howl until they became unconscious. When the pressure was increased prisoners were observed to undergo profound disturbances of consciousness. Those who survived the experiment suffered from severe shock and mental disorders due to cerebral haemorrhage.
Autopsies were carried out on the victims, some of whom were still alive. Samples were removed from their brains, necks, lungs, sympathetic nervous system, liver, heart muscles, kidneys, and muscles from their limbs. This material was then conserved. Lumps of ice would be put into the water to keep the temperature low. The experiment would last for anything up to 36 hours, or even more.
Low-temperature experiments were also carried out in atmospheric conditions. Every hour they were doused down with cold water and their temperature was taken. These were the cruellest experiments conducted in Dachau, and most of the victims died. Only those individuals whose physical condition allowed them to have sexual intercourse were warmed up exceptionally fast and recovered their normal condition.
German Nazi doctors conducting pseudo-medical experiments. They were divided into five groups.
Blood, urine, faeces, and saliva samples were taken every day. The effects of the experiment were very severe, but none of the victims died. Brei maculipennis mosquitos were bred in special cages and fed on flies. Quinine, and neosalvarsan were cuoroba as treatments.
Over 2, victims, chiefly Polish Roman Catholic priests, were infected with the disease, and about of them died, many of them due to the toxic effects of antipyrine and pyramidon, which were administered to bring down fever, and of salvarsan, which caused acute yellow atrophy of the liver.
Another type of experiment carried out concerned phlegmon. Many of the victims of these experiments died due to disseminated infection. Others developed abscesses on their entire body. When victims were treated with sulphonamides healing was delayed, and muscular, cardiac, hepatic, renal and pulmonary dystrophy would be observed in post-mortems.
There were other experiments connected with jaundice. The victims were operated. Experimental methods were used to treat prisoners suffering from tuberculosis. They were given calcium, codeine, pneumothorax treatment and other bri. Some of them were kept in bed with no medications or additional food.
Others received homeopathic treatment, and the remaining tuberculosis sufferers were told to take exercise, chroba, and cold baths.
The number of prisoners subjected to these experiments is not known, but we do know that they were sent to the Hartheim gas chambers. Many prisoners paid with their lives for such experiments: Some victims had limbs amputated, and blood vessels from them were transplanted into other victims. Several sterilisations were performed, but we have no further data on them. These figures are incomplete, as we do not have data on all the experiments. The Nuremberg Code is as follows:. The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential.
This means that the person involved should have legal capacity to give consent; should be so situated as to be able to exercise free power of choice, without the intervention of any element of force, fraud, deceit, duress, over-reaching, or other ulterior form of constraint or coercion; and should have sufficient knowledge and comprehension of the elements of the subject matter involved as to enable him to make an understanding and enlightened decision.

In her ruling, U.
District Court Judge Ginger Berrigan criticized how Goodell disciplined New Orleans Saints players involved in the team’s bounty program but said the claims made by Vilma did not support his lawsuit. Berrigan ended her decision by writing: The Court nonetheless believes that had this matter been handled in a less heavy handed way, with greater fairness toward the players and the pressures they face, this litigation and the related cases would not have been necessary.

Vilma’s lawyer, Peter Ginsberg, released the following statement: Goodell initially suspended Vilma for the entire season for his role in the Saints ‘ bounty program. Vilma wound up being able to play while appealing the suspension, and three other players — Saints defensive end Will Smith and two former SaintsCleveland Browns linebacker Scott Fujita and free-agent defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove — received shorter bans.
But Paul Tagliabue, Goodell’s predecessor as commissioner, heard a final round of player appeals and vacated the suspensions last month, although he backed the findings of Goodell’s investigation. Ginsberg said Vilma wanted to continue the lawsuit even after his season-long suspension was dissolved. Vilma originally filed the lawsuit against Goodell in May.
