Wiring model sirens to NX Hello and thank you in advance for your expertise.

748 – Honeywell Hardwired Alarm Siren (Indoor/Outdoor, Dual-Tone, 119dB)

I would like to wire them to my NX-8 panel. There are 5 wires on the siren: Can someone please explain what wires I would need to run to connect the 3 sirens to the NX-8 panel?

Each siren uses 1. The alarm is limited to a maximum output of 1A which means you’ll need to use a relay and an auxiliary power supply. You’ll need to decide if you want battery backup for siren operation.

The sirens are dual tone but for your application you’d want to use the warble sound. That would be the red and black wires. The two white wires are connected to a switch on the back of the siren so that if someone tries to remove it the switch closes. You could program a point in your system for this honehwell connection. Most siren installations aren’t tamper protected.

The choice is yours. You won’t be very popular in your neighborhood. Find all posts by PJmax. I received a speaker with my NX-8 kit, but thought that would not be enough. I thought honeyywell s would drive any intruder out of the honeywe,l.

However, I do not want to go overboard with power and relays and such. I have zero experience but fast becoming an expert. I have a 2 floor semi detached home with an additional finished basement and unfinished attic.

Our footprint is 14 feet wide and 30 feet deep. The house was broken into once we know from the insurance company and the house across the street honeydell been burgled twice. I would love to know what you would do if it were your home I want to be loved by my neighbors In my home there are no outside audibles. Most of my installations use two – four keypads and each one of them annunciates the alarm.

Would you use the included joneywell speaker for the siren and nothing but another keypad or so? I mean if you had the described house and NX Those speakers are louder than most people think.

Given that you have multiple floors, your better bet is to use multiple speakers, with the system’s built in siren driver, rather than the powered sirens.

Just pay attention to the speaker wiring diagram for multiple speakers. There’s a right and wrong way hojeywell wire them the impedance has to stay balanced Find all posts by MrRonFL.

Would you put a speaker in the basement? I was planning on just the 1st and 2nd floors.

Honestly, I wouldn’t honeysell, unless it’s easily accessible from the exterior. Thank you very much. So I have instead ordered 2x smaller sirens wave 2 which are mA each.

Hopefully that will work with my 1 Amp limit. Thanks again in advance. You can run sirne in parallel. This has been a great help to me. You may not post new threads. BB code is On.
